What can I expect in a reading?

A Vedic astrologer is tasked with translating all of the information in a person’s chart into plain language, so that it may be understood by anyone.

Simply put, you don’t need to know anything about astrology to get a reading!

Sessions are typically in the format of a conversation, intended to confirm the chart’s accuracy and explore any topics that are especially relevant during the time of the reading. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and you are always welcome to do the same.

No question or area of interest is off-limits. However, there are limits to any astrologer’s skillset, and I won’t be able to answer every question. Given that astrology is inherently revealing, all sessions are 100% confidential in order to protect your privacy.

Why vedic Astrology?

All human beings are born experiencing various limitations, such as a body of a certain size and shape, or birth into a specific time and place, and all of us will eventually desire to be less limited in one way or another. We may want to see ourselves more clearly, to play to our strengths and transform our weaknesses. In times of struggle, we may also want to know when our fortunes will change for the better, or how to navigate the challenges we face.

In the history of Jyotiṣa, also known as Jyotish or Vedic Astrology, ancient seers discovered myriad connections between our earthly experience and the positions of the planets and stars. Thousands of years of observation and insight were distilled into methods of predictive analysis, which were then passed down from teacher to student over many generations. Proper instruction and dedicated practice can help to assimilate the wisdom inherent in the stars, but the field is vast enough for many lifetimes of apprenticeship.

In natal astrology, the astrologer is tasked with analyzing a client’s birth chart, which shows the positions of the planets and stars at the time of a client’s birth. Skilled analysis of this information can give tremendous insight into how a client navigates the world, both internally and externally. Additional tools of jyotiṣa can even predict the circumstances that are likely to unfold in a client’s life, such as partnerships, career, financial opportunity, births, deaths, and much more.

Are Vedic and Western Astrology different?

Yes! Many people are familiar with the Western astrological system, which uses the Tropical zodiac. Vedic astrology uses the Sidereal zodiac, which is directly connected to the positions of the stars in visible space. Vedic astrology also has many, many tools for timing and analysis which are not found in Western astrology.

Over the past several hundred years, the calculated starting point of the Tropical zodiac has shifted significantly due to complex astronomical factors. This has resulted in the “slipping” of the Tropical signs, such that they are almost entirely disconnected from the visible constellations. This also means that the positions of the planets often differ radically between Western and Vedic charts. For example, your Western chart may list your natal Sun in the sign of Aries, but depending on the Sun’s degree, it can be in the constellation of Pisces in your Vedic chart.

Although I respect Western astrology and am sure there are many skilled Western astrologers, I exclusively work within the Vedic system.
